what are you opinions on this medal?

it looks it was either cleaned recently or it is a fake.
i would go with cleaning.

In your opinion it's original but someone has cleaned it and ruined its condition ?

Basically yes - The photos are blurry ( maybe it's my tired eyes ! ) but if original,
all the original bronze toning has been removed - likely by a 5 minute dip
in rust/tarnish remover such as 'CLR'. It's worth somewhat less than
an untouched one, plus there is no ribbon. Should be around
$50-$60ish, IMO.........

Please compare with my example (the shiny area is vaseline to stop a little corrosion)

Nice item you have, I think they both look close enough so I think it's 100 % genuine. I will make a sneaky haggle on it and see if I can get a bargin.

Well good luck to you but your example above isn't the only one out there. Personally I'd be waiting for a better example. Theres some saying that goes like "the bitterness of a bad buy remains long after the sweetness of a low price is forgotten"...or something like that.

Don't forget you will need a ribbon as this one doesn't appear to have one. Finding a ribbon will be much harder than finding another medal with it's ribbon.

Very true, I've never seen an original ribbon for this award for sale anywhere.

Here is my original first issue Africa korps medal. The original ribbon has a bobby pin but that is not in this picture.
