I'm surprised no-one has commented on this one. A rare medal, we see many fakes here but when a real one pops up, no comments?

Excellent and Rare Memel! In the Case and with the Document, no less! A Tough set Indeed to come by! Nice pick up! Now we need to see all 3 side by side!
(And, No, Adrian...I never commented because I just now Saw it...lol)

sorry guys I diagree its a fake, the M is curved it should be straight.
Looks like an original 'Straight G - Type 7' to me. This is still an unknown maker...we just sold one of these a month ago for $80.00...someone got a great deal!

The podium does not touch the rim of the medal, as do most fakes and the letter "G" is correct. The curvature of the "M"s in the first "Memel" is slightly less pronounced than the following 2, as it should be. There are known both straight "M's and curved.
One deciding factor is-is there a Seam on the edge of the medal or is it smooth stamped? Everything else that I'm seeing here looks correct.

It's all right here...

This one is indeed the G 7 type i also have it checked by Antonio Scapini the writer of the book La Medaglia Di Memel.
There are more original variants then only the curved m memel. Thee edge is smooth no rim or any defects.
This is why I am loath to share my Memel in detail. Any time a Memel is shown (especially on the WAF) it is generally instantly decried as a fake. For some strange reason the Memel medal seems to be an especially touchy subject. This strikes me as odd given that other more expensive awards (RK, DKig etc) are also extensively faked yet the collecting community seems more willing to accept shared examples without anywhere near the massive instant stampede towards the 'fake' vote that the Memel attracts.
Perhaps it's just more fashionable to call Memels fake by those that don't really know?
FWIW, my example is an L/18 stamped BH Mayer, or 'straight G, type 3' for those who refer to Antonio Scapini's database.
