how can i straighten the ribbon?
My Mother's Crosses have the same folds in the ribbon. Never saw any problem with them being that way. If you really wanted to, I suppose laying the ribbons straight and sandwiching them between two heavy books would work. Leave them there long enough, and it'll iron out the creases.by emo155

Not sure if it is the photography or my ageing eyes but it looks silver to me when enlarged. I also have two crosses with the same folds in the ribbon and I'm sure they were folded this way for packaging when given to the recipient.
As the nomination involved a lengthy and exhaustive bureaucratic process I always wondered why so many seem to have never been worn. Although part of the reason may be correct wearing of the decoration was only permitted at all formal state celebrations and family occasions.
Or perhaps with tough times ahead the various privileges that were bound to the honour were the real attraction for applying.
