    No, actually.

It's the Verdienstauszeichnung für Angehörige der Ostvölker, i.e. the Eastern Peoples' Decoration for Merit (the KVK equivalent, so to speak).

The Tapferkeitsauszeichnung für Angehörige der Ostvölker, i.e. the Eastern Peoples' Decoration for Bravery (the EK equivalent) had swords.

    Hello,
the first class decoration that started this thread is a reproduction. It looks to be made from some other metal than zinc.
It has even got a fake Assmann stamp engraved on to the reverse.

These awards are generally considered to have 3 'TYPES'

The first and earliest type has a plain inner and outer circle on the obverse design.
The second and third type had corded circles.

Type 2 is the type that has the semi hollow dished reverse and is most commonly found with the makers stamp 100 (Wachtler and Lange) under the broad mishapen pin.

Type 3 The one yours is pretending to be had a deep dished reverse and has never been found with any original makers marks.
The hardware that is fitted to this award is always similar to the one I have shown below.

These awards were only ever produced in zinc.

Type 2 No swords : Ostvolk Orden 1st Class Silver No swords

Another Type 2: Ostvolk Silver 1st class No Swords Wachtler and Lange

And the last Type 2: Ostvolk 1st Class Gold No Swords Award

Type 3 with swords: Cased 1st class Ostvolk in Gold with swords

The with swords example that you posted at '5' is a really nice Type 3 award.
A picture of the reverse would be nice if you could post it.

    All the best
    Doug

Forgot to mention that the reproduction awards similar to the one that started this thread have been sold in their droves by an ebay seller with multiple user names in the UK
