I origionally was going to buy one cased but the guy backed out of the deal but found this nice bar from a freind at a flömarkt and couldnt resist Its magnetic which leads me to ask if they are all magnetic or just some? Another question is if there are an orange and a red ribbon or are the orange ribbons just faded red ribbons? Hope you enjoyOlympics medal on barOlympics medal on bar

    Hi Lee,
The fact that it's magnetic is a good sign. I think all originals should be magnetic, if not treat them with suspicion. As for the ribbon, I think this one looks like it should be that colour. Some were made this way, much the same as you can find orange EK2 and KVK2 ribbons. If it was faded it should be the original colour under the backing where the light can't reach. It might be worth having a look to see if there is any variation in colour but it doesn't look like there will be from your pics.
Note also the Hindenburg ribbon has a deep red stripe, if the Olympic medal had faded then this one should show signs too.

So the veteran who was awarded the EK got this medal in the Olympic games of 1936.
So he should be around 36 years old at the time right?
If he fought in 1918 at the age of 18 he should be minmum 36 in 1936.

Very nice medal bar Lee !

These Olympic medals were not the type which were awarded to athletic
participants in the Games, but rather for organisational involvement
    such as police work, etc.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

I'm very curious to see if the EK is marked but i'm afraid that i might damage the ribbon.
Has anyone seen this kind of crown on another EK? It doesn't match any other i have.
