Here's an interesting question for debate! Say, for instance, that you had a medal-a fairly decent scarce one-and it had no Ribbon. You look around for abit and miraculously find a matching and genuine ribbon for it. So far so good? Now....what if the ribbon had had it's medal Cut off of it-leaving the ribbon completely intact and with it's pin attached and sewn? Would you....1. Carefully remove the pin and open the ribbon for the medal? 2. Keep the ribbon and pin sewn together? 3. Keep them both and display them together? Or, 4....Toss the both of them angrily into the dustbin as a lost cause?

So, what do you guys think? It's kind of an opinion call-which would you do if it were something you had? Hmm..?

In this case, I would undo the ribbon stitching and put the
fairly decent, scarce medal on it - completing the set.
( No need if the ribbon ring could be pried open )

I don't think it's wrong restoring former glory to an item.
We do it with cars and other stuff all the time.........

Sounds reasonable....but would you re-stitch the pin back onto the ribbon with(gasp) modern thread or leave the ribbon open and pin off?

Yes, using only cotton thread - not rayon or nylon,
and only if a decent job could be performed.........

I have the same dilema with this MC, and haven't
sewn the new ribbon on as yet :

I would re-stitch with original thread...if you're going to restore something you might as well do it right, in my opinion...The hunt for that "missing" piece has always been a big part of my collecting experience...
    just my 2 cents, lol...

I would display them together, but leave them separate. But that's only my opinion. Stewy
