It's original but looks like it's ready to fall apart at any moment!
I'm just wondering if $400 wasn't a bit too much to pay for it in this condition............?
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
It is original. It's a type 3, as it has the C.A.Westmann/Dresden sticker on the reverse. It's not known if this company was the manufacturer or distributor of the award. The colour of the remaining backing cloth on the obverse looks grey/green to me for Heer. As said, it's a bit ropey, but hey, there's a lot worse tunic removed DK's out there than this one, it's got that 'been there' look for me and I like it.

We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'
In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
I hope the owner ended up in better shape than his award did....
