No, no death card per se, just the newspaper notices and picture of his grave (preceeding). You might note also that throughout the collection one can see half-hearted attempts to erase the swastika on numerous pictures and documents, as dictated after the wars end.

As to translations, that would be a fair amount of work, but perhaps someone here in Southern California will come forward and volunteer.

Again, thank you for the kind comments. More to come.

    Cheers,
    Rick

Okay, what now follows is Otto's Wehrpass. Again, if anyone would like a more detailed view, I'll try to accommodate.

And finally, a news clipping from the battle on the day he was wounded, his letters from the Eastern Front and the list of personal items returned to his family.

Such was the life, and death, of Unteroffizier Otto Eckstein. Here now to be remembered into cyber perpetuity. Somehow, I think his family would have approved.

Superb. It is so refreshing to see such a complete grouping preserved and kept together.
You are absolutely correct not to tamper with the display to try and see any makers marks on the decorations. A fantastic group and as I said in the other thread, nice to see some rare pics of the FW-189.
Thank you for taking the time to post everything.

Wow, That is a wonderful grouping!
If you take some good closeup pictures of the medals, maybe someone can tell you the makers of them. It is most likely possible with EK1 and EK2.
Maybe also the rest. Give it a shot!

Again, a very very nice grouping and please, never split it up!
