When it comes to pinback badges, there is a typical type of catch (often colloquially referred to as a "Souval Claw" in collectorspeak) that betrays a badge as a post-war Souval piece. It looks like this:

As well as the points already made, I suggest any Souval piece is posted for comments prior to purchase. Souval continued production of their awards well into the 1980s I believe.
Those made shortly after the end of the war are virtually indistinguishable from their wartime counterparts and therefore any Souval award not bearing the features above should be evaluated on it's own merit.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
