Hello All,
I was a bit sceptical at first with the 2 Eastern Peoples decorations below. But the longer I handle them the more I get that warm cosy feeling that they are both good.
Your opinions would be appreciated

What appears to be rust on the magnetic unmarked coke bottle pin is in fact discoloured lacquer, I tried scratching a bit off last night and the pin is like mint beneathAttachment 479415Attachment 479414Attachment 479413

I think we have the Motherhoard of these awards in this Country of ours after the British Government spirited the Galacia division away from the Russians.
As the old Eastern Vets die off the awards are coming on to the market in more abundance (IMO)

Yes Scout you would have done.
They are normally seen pinned and dangling on their tunics.
If you are lucky you might even see them pinned on the female auxiliaries’ dresses.
I missed out one a few years ago…much to my regret

Trying to track any information down on the Galacian Division and their subsequent repatriation to the UK is like trying to find the proverbial needle.

I know they were rear area security during the Russian ops and withdrew down to the South when the 3rd SS Div was wiped out during the Russian advances of 44/45.
I know that they were spirited out through Switzerland with the help of the Vatican? and that they mainly consisted of Ukranian and other White Russian Volunteers.

At the end of hostilities my Dad was moved up from Austria to Berlin to become a train guard that shipped captured Eastern Europeans up to Moscow on cattle trucks. He did that till 46 when he was discharged
