looks great!
Hi Marks, sorry the the metal DRL sports badge is a fake made in Austria by the firm of Rudolf Souval. Make a note of the catch to hold the pin. This style of catch was never used in WW2 and is a postwar invention of Souval. They used it on a whole series of fake badges.
The cloth badge looks OK.
Cheers, Ade.
Thanks Ade!
If I understood correctly then Rudolf Souval made badges to the Germans and after the war for the collectors. That made me wonder if this Souval badge is also a post-war production?

Hi Marks, that is correct. But after the war they also made many badges which they were not licenced to produce in WW2.
The drivers badge and packet are fine and are WW2 production.
Cheers, Ade.
Thank you Ade.

My pleasure!
For many years some collectors were frightened to buy badges made by Souval. Bad information in some collectors books did not help matters either.
Souval did make some of the best copies around at the time but all have give away errors. Their fake Ritterkreuz are now actually sought after as a nice looking copy. However, they never made them in WW2.
Cheers, Ade.
very interesting and useful facts!!Thanks
