    Hey Everyone!

So recently I bought an Order of the German Eagle 1st class off a friend of mine. He's a vet and apparently he got this from one of his fellow vets. I've talked about him before. He is very reliable, and trust him highly. I have had a number of respected people take a look at it and everyone confirms, its the genuine item. Long story short, he claims this award was taken off the body of a dead japanese soldier on Guadalcanal. Now i know that these awards were most often given to higher ranking political officials and the sort. So what does everyone think? Think its possible the story is true, or is the friend most likely slinging some BS?

I'd be happy to hear what you think!

    Thanks a lot,
    Jess

    Hi Jess

Welcome to the forum. The story could be true but offcourse there is always a possibility that it isn't. I would really love to see the Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler that you have in your possession.

Who knows? My first thoughts are to be wary. But there is a collectors saying: "Buy the item and not the story"

If the item is genuine the story might just be true.

    Cheers, Ade.

Indeed this is it's German name. We try to name items by their correct historical name here on the forum:

Don't worry about the terminology, it's very easy to learn.
