Unusual wartime badge for id please.

Article about: any pins on the back?

Default Unusual wartime badge for id please.

Good evening all. I've posted this picture before some time ago in the hopes of getting an id but no luck so far. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. This item was found on the site of a pow camp in the UK. I've got some nice German dog tags, buttons, belt hooks etc but cannot id this find. It's about the same size as a German infantry assault badge. I've been told there were Italians here too but all my finds have been German or British. Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance.

    Not a German military badge.

Looks to be from an item of Victorian furniture, maybe a wine casket or a sideboard or similar.

As said, not German and I have doubts about it being military too. Jerry might be onto a winner, my first thought was decor rather than anything else.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Almost certainly a furniture adornment....definitely not military of any age or country.

I have had just had a thought. I presume where the camp was, was previously/post farm land. So item could have come from another period entirely. Back to the furniture design. We need the bumper book of furniture bits.

My vote, (if there is one), would go to Victorian furniture hardware.
