Hello Gentlemen,
What do you think of this badge, its a bit battered mind, lost some enamel, is it something to do with military police in France. I did know what it was for, but I've forgotten. Can someone jog my memory.
Regards

I have no idea what the badge is or what it might be for but looking at the eagle it stands a very good chance of being the Order of the Albatross.
Surely no original award would have an eagle looking like that?

Yes Adrian,
As ugly as the bird may look, the badge is real. I've found out, the badge is part of a set of three, issued to civilian workers employed by the Wehrmacht administration in occupied countries, this one is for Wehrmacht civil workers in France. There is another for Norway and one combining Belgium & Holland. Rare to find. There may be extra badges for Poland & Russia, but I've not come across them.

Hi Alec,
Like I said earlier, I have no idea about this badge so I hope some other members can add their thoughts.
What is the word at bottom left?
**EDIT**
I found this pic, looks like the same type of badge but I have no idea on the authenticity of yours.

And a bit more searching turned up this thread, showing the same pic as I posted above!

There were obviously several makers of these badges accounting for the minor variations in details so it looks like it stands a chance.
It wins the ugliest eagle prize though!

Me neither but I educated myself researching this badge so thank you Alec for posting it.
I would like to think that if the badge was made in the occupied countries, the local manufacturers in those countries made the eagle look like an albatross as a bit of amusement towards their occupiers.....

Also the RAF bird is an Albatross, I wonder if that pieved the Germans too?
