So was this a ww1 and ww2 vet then?

It looks like he was. Probably enlisted before or during World War 1 and stayed in the military during World War 2.

I wouldn't say that it's hard to find (most officers were ww1 soldiers), although I haven't seen Saxon Bravery medal on any ribbon bars I've seen (but I don't collect them). Still it's a nice bar!

i believe that this a common bar,although the gold Saxon bravery medal ribbon might rank it as scarce,i am not up on Imperial Medals sufficiently...
