Good Evening or Morning or even afternoon to all,

I've had this medal for a little while now, in fact it was my second ever purchase after an Imperial Eisernes Kreuz 2 klasse with ring. I have posted that one a while ago. Anyway I've had a go at trying to Identify the maker and would like to run it pasted the forum. It isn't easy and I may still have it wrong but here we go,

Is it an unmarked, Hauptmunzamt / Wien (30)

My reason for thinking this is the :-

The vent is very thick with the hole nearly closing.
The feet of the Adler look thick and clumsy.
There is only one shaft on the primary feathers.
The T is shorter than the other letters.

I may still need to do some work on this, but it it very hard. The differences from one to the other can be very obvious or so tiny they really are hard to see.

Thank you for looking and your valued feed back

    Wilko

Have you studied the info on here? The Ostmedaille-database

It is extremely hard to determine who is maker of these medals, at least for me, you will probably have to wait for Sindri to do that, he is really incredible in that. I can only tell you that it is genuine piece, but you certainly already know that.

    Best regards,
    Franko

Hello Gunny, thanks for the link, I have been looking and will keep looking on this link. This is my first foray into trying to identify it.
    Thanks again Gunny

Thanks Franko, I will continue to look at the link Gunny has put me onto, but hopefully i'm on the right track. It is, as you say, very difficult to find the slight differences in them.

I think that you are on the right track Ken, to me it also looks like Hauptmunzamt(30) piece, but I am really far from sure regarding that.

    Best regards,
    Franko

    Hello Wilko

I love it when ppl make an effort to do their own research and then post their findings for confirmation, instead of just asking "good or bad".

Indeed all your observations are spot on, its a OM30 / Hauptm. / Wien. Well done!
Like you said they can be hard to identify.

I am working on something for the database to make that easier, but its allot of work and I dont have much time available, so its takes a ages but will be there eventually.
