i agree. fantasy piece.
but the motors on the Graf Zeppelin are actually shown in proper orientation. the props faced forward on this dirigible!
they were mounted with props forward just as you'd see on an airplane.

A new one on me! I've never seen such a badge before but it is a fantasy piece as already said. Good observation though Ned!

There were two Graf Zeppelins, LZ 127 'Graf Zeppelin' that had pusher type propellors, and the later LZ 130 'Graf Zeppelin II', (the sister ship of LZ 129 'Hindenburg'), that were originally designed to use helium for lift but couldn't due to a U.S. embargo so they had to rely on hydrogen (oh dear...), that used tractor type propellors.
Apparently, the wooden pusher types, at the rear of each gondola were prone to warping in flight due to moisture build up from condensation, and this seriously affected their performance and that of the airship. This was overcome by fitting better Maybach diesel engines that drove a tractor propellor on the front of each gondola that was made of a semi synthetic 'plastic wood'.
