Zerstorer Kriegsabzeichen (JFS)

Article about: Hello one and all , just a quick one on this JFS destroyer badge. This certainly looks a good original badge to me but what are your opinions on the "blueing"? I think it is probab

    Hi Leon,

I think your new pic's in natural light show it as it really is, a lot more convincing than the Staegmeir fake. It's a nice addition to your collection that anyone would be proud to have, well done old pal!

It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.

I cannot access this site so i cannot view the images.

However,i have a hunch that this is the Schwerin Destroyer badge that we recently discussed on another forum.

An odd piece i would say,and possibly a Staegemeir product?

It shows the "bubbling" that one would normaly see on Schwerin zinc award.but the gilding overspill on the reverse that we normally see on Schwerin tombak badges.Plus,i do not see the toolmarks on the mainpin that are usually visible on Schwerin badges.

I have had a few zinc Schwerin Destroyer badges in my possesion over the years and this one does not come close.

    Regards,Martin.

Well,as newbie here i had a problem with editing my above post.

Anyway,I just wanted to illustrate a "real" Schwerin zinc Destroyer.

This is an original early Schwerin zinc Destroyer that i used to own.

The gilding is intact, but typically has faded to a dull "olive" colour.

This is what i would expect to see from an original Schwerin zincer and not was linked above.Note the toolmarks that i mentioned on the pin where it is attached to the hinge.

    Regards,Martin.

Yes Martin, the link that i have posted is going to a Carsten Spiegelei badge....the same production style as the "JFS" copy showed by Ned.

Your badge is textbook in every way.Very nice!

@Adrian:Nice to see you back here Adrian....hope you feel well!
