Japanese Order of the Rising Sun 7th class , but Japanese isn't my thing so I can't say if its good or not .

This is the eighth class of the Rising Sun. The seventh class would have green/purple enamel.

I saw one of those on fleabay the other day, but I didn't follow, not sure how much it went for. That one had no writing on the back though. It is a neat looking medal

They all have characters on the reverse.

An eighth Class medal without case should sell for around
$30-$40 IF it's a genuine silver original. There are cheap
pewter/pot metal copies at $10-$15.........

It had the same red and white ribbon, with the silver flower. Maybe it was a fake? it was ebay after all lol I found some more for around the price you quoted. I don't know kanji, so I'm not sure if the boxes are right or not, but they are neat medals none the less

Indeed Paul, there are lots of these on ebay - and likely some
replicas as well. They are beautiful medals.........!
