Can someone identify this soviet medal?

I have no idea what year or country this is from. I got it from a friend in Berlin who bought it for me at some flee market because he thought it was from WW2.

The back says "Socialist Work, Learning, and Life". It's an East German piece, probably a civilian award.

Well at least you now know that it is from the DDR, circa 1959 and was for a Socialist Workers Brigade. Happy hunting.
