Russian collectors are very keen indeed on catagorising all badges and awards into types and sub variations. I am awaiting a book about these.

Same as Steve, I know nothing about most Soviet era items, though they do look good and I almost started collecting some of the orders at one time. I have one flag and used to have a helmet, that is as far as I ever got.

Even though I have been collecting Soviet items since 2001, it is still a big learning curve for me too, especially when it comes to badge sub types.

BTW, I bought a big haul of badges at the weekend, 37 in all, including 12 "Excellent" badges. With the poor light at this time of year it is taking me some time to do decent pics.

What I do like is the quality and variety.
