Guard's Badge

Article about: I have only just begun to collect Russian WWII. I have this Guard badge that I hope is WWII. Why do some have fringe on the flags? Mine does not. Bob Hritz

    Here is a better pick of this well worn example. the inside is silvered like the nut in post #8. notice the light but worn lines at the bottom edge?
    I'm wondering now if the repro isn't trying to mimic your original, that it is the one it is trying to match...... Could I trouble you for a picture of the Reverse of the nut in question?


    I also think some nuts are cast....I'll post some more pictures.

    Booklet of krasnoarmeets Prokopenko Tikhon Danilovich, transmitter 54th regiment of the guard of the 2nd Guards Infantry Division. The box says it is entitled to wear the insignia of the guard.Guard's Badge

    Certificate is given to serzhant of the guard Zalvski Vladimir Gavrilovitch. According `s Order No. 187 of 10 July 1943 the first school of armored Guard, located at Ulyanovsk, awarded the Order of Lenin and the commandment of the Red Star, says that it has received 'appellation' serzhant Guard 'and that`s badge. The degree is attested by the Commander `s school, General-Leitenant Kachouba, armored units, holder of the Hero of the Soviet Union medal.
    In order: Commander `s unity, kapitan of Pronin guard.
