Short, concrete description of his feat of arms or merits:
On July 24, 1944 he was given orders by unit command to lay a telephone line from the village of Solovo to the village of Podyarkov, where fighting with enemy troops was taking place. The sector through which the telephone line had to pass was subjected to heavy enemy artillery and mortar fire. Under enemy fire, Sergeant Lednyov and the soldiers of his squad, defying death, provided the units that were engaged in the fighting with communications within the established time frame. Lednyov repaired breaks that were caused in the telephone line within 5-10 minutes.
He deserves the Order of Glory, 3rd Class.
