    Thanks Ade, it and the excellent machine gunner badge are on ebay and i intend buying them. i am always a little nervous about buying off ebay and am pleased to have my opinion backed up by knowledgeable persons such as yourself.

    I must concur with my esteemed collector colleague; it is a fine period Guard's Badge.

    Yep, an original WW2 Guards Badge. The screwplate is a variation from the Pobeda Factory in Moscow that I haven't seen before.
