Default Order of the Badge of Honour

Hi Guys, I have wanted one of these for some time now, even though this particular example is a postwar issue, being a Type 4 Variation 1, I could not resist buying it. And the price was right too! The quality is superb. The basic medal itself is made from solid silver and is heavy. Serial number is 387997.

The award was first instituted on November 25th 1935. Awarded on an individual or collective basis for contributions in all spheres of national life, including national defense. The early 1935 version is smaller than the later 1936 version. The 1935 order measures 39mm high and 28mm wide. The 1936 version measures 46mm high and 33mm wide. They were originally issued as a screwback badge, but later changed to a medal type format.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Oooohhhh . . . .

One of my favorites. (RBL nicer, but ....) Though not "military", if you say we can discuss it, Ade, then we can.

Will post some of my nicer guests.

OK, starting with one of my favorite singles. Research on these is always TRICKY, but sometimes, when you are very lucky, . . . .

    Aleksey Karpovich Sergeev

Order of the Badge of Honor, type 2, var. 4 - 12577

Documented and as researched as these can be, so far.

A labor award for the Finnish War. He was a plant manager at the Kirovsky zavod (one of the largest and “most revolutionary” of the military factories in Leningrad). He received the Badge of Honor along with 1280 other workers from Leningrad for support of the front line troops during the Finnish War.

And, since the order book has his photo . . .

It is one of the sad facts of today's research capabilities (reflecting collecting fixations?) that this beautiful and fully documented group can't be researched, at all.

If you look carefully, you'll find the Badge of Hionor there . . . It is # 618531, awarded 1971.

    Ivan Sergeyevich Gladun

A nice group, documented and with some paperwork.

Order of the Badge of Honor T4 V1 #672382
    Veteran of Labor
Honored Civil Engineer of the Ukranian SSR
    100 Years of Lenin's Birth
Socialist Competition winner badges from 1973 & 1975

The newspaper clipping (rough translation from Ukranian) tells us:

The newspaper is that of the "Cherkasskhimstroi" trust, called Na Budovi ("For Construction") and is the issue of 27 June 1975:

"For 12 years senior executive worker I. S. Gladun, who you see at top, has been employed in Construction And Assembly Directorate No. 27 of our trust.

In this time, Ivan Sergeevich has boldly and directly participated in the erection of all the highest industrial objectives of the greatest (chemicals??????) in Cherkassk.

For merit in gathering construction and the greatest production, I. S. Gladun has clearly been notable, so as of the 1st of June he was rewarded with the title called "MERITORIOUS BUILDER OF THE UkSSR.

Sincere congratulations to you, Ivan Sergeevich, upon this high labor distinction!"
    Also his (aging) photo.

And, at the risk of exhausting patience, one more. There are others.

    Maria Kirilovna Korbacho

As usual, we can't tell anything about her awards.

Order of the Badge of Honor, type 4, var. 2 / Орден "Знак Почета", Тип 4, Вариант 2 - 1288450

Order of Labor Glory, 3rd class, var. 2 / Орден Трудовой Славы, Орден III степени, Вариант 2 - 54726

    (A nasty scan, sorry.)

Hi Ed, as usual these are great groups. Even if these are not fully researched they are still really nice just having some info behind them.

    Cheers, Ade.
