This example is serial numbered 248954.

One of these days my curiosity will so overwhelming that I'll get this one and a few other of the ODMs in my collection researched. I do not really collect these, but they are very useful in adorning uniforms with.

But for now would any associate know (or can guess) approximately what timeframe this particular piece was awarded?

I am very new to this. I picked up one of these in Lviv, Ukraine recently. A very beautiful piece. I have researched that it is a 1985 second class reissue and was minted in Leningrad. My serial No is: 1826220, i am interested in researching a little further. would it be possible to find out who it was issued to and for what. I dont know where to start looking.

Thanks Ade, such a shame. Where would one look to research these medals?

The only way these 1985 issues can be attributed is if they come together with the actual award booklet. Once the booklet is lost from the medal, that is it, the history is lost. The archives in Russia don't have these recorded unlike the wartime issues of this award.
