Not really, clerical errors were common, as noted by my inability to find one citation based on the differences in the spelling of his name.

I found more information on him, that should confirm that he joined 1917 and not 1918. I cut the sentence out of the article. ''А началась его военная биография еще в октябре 1917 года, когда молодой рабочий стал добровольцем Красной гвардии.''

Some better translations of the citations and newspaper article by Auke:

    […]

Short, concrete description of his feat of arms or accomplishments:

Throughout the period he served with the Political Section comrade Zaikov showed himself an indefatigable political officer.

He skillfully and vigorously engaged in an unrelenting struggle with those violating military and Party discipline. He tirelessly educates the Party cadres and rouses the communists to carry out their tasks. He performs a great deal of work to make the Party grow, and with Bolshevik passion he fights to keep its ranks pure. He often holds lectures for communists and officers.

During the combat operations aimed at defeating the enemy forces southwest of Königsberg and during the capture of the city of Königsberg, the fighting on the Berlin axis, and the capture of the city of Berlin, comrade Zaikov, who spent a significant amount of time among the district’s units, put a great deal of effort and energy into ensuring that the combat actions of the Air Force units and the everyday life of the aircrews and technical personnel were supported continuously.

Through all of his efforts he contributed to the accomplishment of the tasks assigned by superior staffs.

For his skillful duties to support the combat operations of the Air Force units, Major T.Y. Zaikov deserves the Order of the Patriotic War.

Zaikov's citation for his Order of the Red Star, that my girlfriend nicely translated for me. Awarded on 21.8.1941:

Comrade Zaikov proved himself persistent, decisive, initiative, and a brave political worker in battle with the Finns. Assigned to the 3rd battalion 131 ZCP, comrade Zaikov noticed, that under the superior strength of the enemy, the battalion started to retreat. Comrade Zaikov used decisive measures to stop the retreat of the battalion. The enemy managed to take out the machine gunners and damage the machine gun. On this area the enemy created a break through the defensive line. Comrade Zaikov, under the enemy's thunder of mortar and machine gun fire, repaired the machine gun and he himself went behind it and opened fire on the enemy, that halted the advance of the Finns.
