Default Order Of Patriotic War First Class

    Hi Gents
I've come across a First Class Order of Patriotic War for sale but would like a second opinion.
I'm not 100% confident at the moment and have never seen one in a box before.
Would anyone be able to provide a second opinion?
    Many thanks in advance

    Default OPW's

    Andy,

Early numbered OPW's are a minefield. I don't have one of these in my collection yet, I can't really help you out. There should be a few voices in here that can.

I looked at the Mondvor site, it looks like a Type 2, Option 1, Variety 2.

    Hello,

Better quality pictures are needed. Especially concenring the serial number.
It looks like the enamel on the 12'O'clock ray star has been replaced ? not sure.

I am not convinced. I don't immediately say it is a fake but I am also not convinced it is original. First of all for this serial # range the makers mark should be slightly curved up. Here it looks like the second part is hanging down. From the front I would like to say a much better pic. Especially from the swords handle and the rays underneath it. Furthermore I have doubts about the serial number. It looks underneath the serial # that a former number has been scratched away and this new number is engraved, trying to look like the mint engravers. But that could also be because of the bad pics.
What is the width of the spokes on the back? Are these 3 or 4 mm?

Hi Marcel, thanks for your comments. Thats the same doubts we had. We dont have the badge in hand as we came across it for sale with a known seller at a recent show.

If the price is good it is perhaps worth the gamble. If the dealer/seller has the same badge for sale online than perhaps better pics can be obtained?

    Hello,
The artifacts around the serial number should light the alarm lights.
