Ade has started a very nice thread on the Badge of Honor. We should probably have one on the RBL as well.

While, strictly, not "military", we need to remember that not all of the winning of the war was the result of what people in uniform did and that the efforts of workers made a big difference in the defeat of fascism.

Unfortunately, so far, research on these awards is a matter of luck, and, for most, research is a dead end. Some day that may change.

Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic: Order of the Red Banner of Labor

Pre-Soviet, this specimen is documented, to Timofei Prokofievich Voskoboinikov. Who was he?

Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic: Order of the Red Banner of Labor, type 2

Not documented, but the number (301) checks out in Kutsenko's book as having been awarded to I. Kh. Altynbaev, Chief of Police Criminal Investigations Department.

He was one of only TWO individuals to receive the order twice.

1- #139 October 1929
2- #301 November 1931 (he was the first person to get it twice)

Not documented, but I like it anyway. Has its "Paul Papers".

Documented and researched (a bit). She was a schoolteacher from Ukraine. A 1939 award.

An unusual award, has its "Paul Papers".

Ivan Pietrovitch Poletaev

Documented, but not much is known about him. The group is also broken, missing an Order of Lenin (213801) and a Medal for Distinguished Labor (69650).

Order of the Red Banner of Labor, type 6, var. 1 - 28063 (1945) - some enamel damage, seems she wore it a lot

Medal for Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War

She got it for 20 years as a school teacher.

Medal for Valor - Unnumbered (1967)

Documented, but research elusive. But the ukaz for the gallantry medal is one for surviving Civil War veterans, so . . . ???
