Hi Richie. Thanks for the reply. What price would you put on it for a counteroffer? I assume if price is the issue, the originality of it isn't a problem then?
-
$25.00 to $30.00 - but that's just me...
Maybe 35, but thats the limit. These are not rare.

Thanks Richie. I've been wanting a WW2 era guard badge, and this one looks to be in pretty good shape barring a little grime on the enamel. So I'll see what he says about an offer in that range!
For my own knowledge, the diagonal lines in the border on this one are different than post war fringe? This is the feature that threw me about this one when going through examples on the forum here. Other than fringe, are there other features that I should look for that distinguish WW2 versions from the post war variations?

It's an original WW2-era piece. I agree with Richie that you shouldn't pay more than $35 for it.
Postwar Guards Badges all have a fringe underneath the red banner and/or a pattern of loops underneath the red enamel. Wartime pieces have neither (they always have a smooth, dotted or strawberry pattern underneath the red enamel).

and although from the poor pictures the nut looks original, but the nut is WORN!
For 50 I'd want a piece that looked very very fresh front to back.

Thanks for the help Richie, Auke and Meyerse! I really appreciate it.

Be careful...they can be addictive as there are many variants.

So I saw! I thought this would be easy to investigate, and there's a pretty nice thread about these on the forum here where people showed a number of them. But, you can certainly tell there was little variances on every one.
