So I found this medal not long ago paid $15, as the person in the store wasn't the owner, was a friend of his minding shop . I honestly thought it was a hat pin.

Had no idea what it was. I'm seeing its something to do with Order of the Patriotic War . The number at bottom. Is 4946246 (appears hand done not machine)

I'd like to know details on this. Has the circle screw back . Thanks !

It is an Order of the Patriotic War, Second Class. I believe it's a 1985 reissue. I have one as well, but mine is a first class; the difference being that the first class is gold plated while the second class is silver.

The 1985 reissue of both classes is pretty common, but I think $15 is not a bad price. They look quite nice either way. It's one of only two Soviet awards I own, the other being a Sino-Soviet Order of Friendship.

Erno is correct. Today $15 is a good price.

    Cheers, Ade.

This thread has gone a little cold but I've only just seen it.

If it helps, from these pics I am confident that this is the 2nd class Type 3 1985 re-issue. This is not a combat award but is an anniversary (40 years) award granted to all surviving WWII veterans in either 1st or 2nd class depending on which criteria were satisfied. That is a good price too.
