Hi, wanted to share my new arrivals. All 4 badges came from same seller in Russia.

I would like to know if the experienced collectors think of these. One badge has an aluminum backing device, and I am not sure if it is the original one.

Did they have these type of aluminum backing device in WW2 era? The badge it came on has very shiny plating on the back, not like the other 3 badges. It looks like a WW2 badge on the front, but the back looks funny?? Is this an original WW2 badge?

Also, one backing device looks like it has the letters from the flag that say"gavardiya" stamped onto it. Please see pics.

Has anyone seen this before, what does it say or mean?? It looks odd to me.

Thanks for any help in advance

    Regards, Steve

Hi Steve, the badges all look fine.

The screw backs are interesting. The alloy one is certainly a postwar replacement. As you know these things often get swapped around, replaced, etc.

The Guards stamped one I have never seen before. All I can suggest is the back plate somehow got under the die stamp for the badge production????

    Cheers, Ade.

Edit: Now that I look at it more, this is exactly what happened Ade, good eye.

Good theory Ade, this is possible. Is that what it says for sure?? (the "guards" from the flag)

This would make the device like a coin that has has a flaw, a mis-strike or.......? It;s interesting for sure.

    Hi Steve,
Aluminum Screwback (МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР) is postwar.
The Screwback marked "Guards" is made from a badge
(in this case probably a manufacturing defect)
The Screwback are often made from scrap metal in the manufacture of badges

    Beautiful series

For information Monetny Dvor (МОНЕТНЫЙ ДВОР) has produced a single badge Guard (47 / 37 mm) in the 1980s I think

Very good Dom, Thanks. This all makes sense, and looks like I have what you and Ade mention. There must not be too many like this that the "guard" got stamped nice on the screw back!!
    I like it!
