WW2 medal...SN tracing?

Can one trace, by the serial number, if this medal was issued during the war or post-war?

Hi Neil, certainly issued in WW2, somewhere between 1943 and 1945.

So this medal would be before Feb 43 or even 42?

Hi Neil, it is not an exact science, as medals were given out to various armies and fronts and so sometimes a higher serial number can be issued before a lower number. This is due to some fronts being more active than others and so more medals got awarded.

Here is another sample serail number and award date for you:

30/04/1945

But the main thing is yours will have been a WW2 issue.
