I havent got my reference books to hand but shouldnt he have the defence as well as the war medal?
I must say i dont like the current laser style of naming compared to the previous impressed, seen a couple of medals that look like they have been in a fire.
Get him to tell you about Palestine, what a nightmare that was.

That's marvellous for the family - to finally have those well-earned medals. Out of interest, did the MOD inscribe all the medals - or just the Palestine GSM?

He didn't qualify for the defence medal as it requires 3yrs service at home/6months overseas in areas closely threatened.
He joined the RAF on 1/4/1944 before brief periods in training and holding battalions of both the RWF and Leics, finally with the KOSB from 3/3/45 to 20/2/47.

I know palestine was a nightmare, nasty conflict. I can't ask him about it though as he is sadly no longer with us. And i doubt he would talk much as he never claimed his medals, preferring to try and forget i suppose.

    Well done, they're great addition.

I thought he'd have been entitled to the 39-45 Star but after checking entitlement he obviously missed out by a couple of months.

I thought the same, i applied for it.
Its was only when it didn't arrive that the penny dropped.
