Default Arroyo dos Molinos 1811 Medal

This item came to me in a box of misc WWII pins and ribbons. Although this is from a period long before WW II I'm hoping there is someone that knows about it. As far as I can tell it was awarded to British soldiers that participated in The Battle of which took place on 28 October 1811 during the Peninsular War. I have only found examples made of silver which this is not. This seems like it is old enough to be real however the pin design bothers me.
Does anyone have information on variations of this medal or perhaps images of similar ones?

The Border Regiment was formed in 1881. It was an amalgamation of 34th (Cumberland) Regiment of Foot and 5th (Westmorland) Regiment of Foot. The Second Battalion of the 34th fought at the Battle of Arroyo dos Molinos in 1811.
