    Default ATS Medal group

Hiya, here is a little group from my collection. Here we have a small group of items all to the same ATS girl, Private W95916 Melhuish.

I like the late pass in particular. As you can see I have her medals, (War & Defence) photo, ATS cap badge and Armu issue Bible which is still in it's cardboard box.

    Cheers, Lez

Living out, lucky lady. What was the role of the Kent platoon?

HI OKW, my wife Lez says I can do the reply to you.

The problem is there is no published list giving the duties of ATS regional platoons. We would love to find one.

The photo does not give a clue either. ATS girls were allowed, upon CO's orders only, to wear a breast badge (Usually a collar dog or cap badge) of the parent unit they were attatched to. So you will see girls wearing RA, RAOC, RASC, badges etc. Corps badges were mostly seen while Regimental ones are more less often encountered.

    Cheers, Ade.
