In 1934 a substitution of the iron medal was authorized, becoming the iron cross .Only one of both medals was ment to be weared!
Has the people in title to wear them had to pay for these replacement medals, and not much did; makes thise medal rather scarce!
I only got a diminutif to show.

The fire cross is the medal that was given to all who had been under enemy fire.
Depending of where the medal was made, you will find 3 different types, with small differences in the details.

The medal commemorating the African campaigns during WWI was given to all soldiers participating .
A silver one for European and a brons medal for natives.
I only have a original ribbon and a polyester cast I made from one, and no descent picture for the momment.
A very nice medal, but the most you get to see are 1970'ties productions made on the original die.And quiet expensive.

Before starting with the WWII Belgian medals, I just want to show you a document that I just came by!
It is not realy a official document, just something commemorating the owners action ( a Yser fighter!)during WWI by citiation of the medals he earned!
Note the document was given to a Flemish citizen and the main part is in French!
