A friend of mine went for a short visit to Berlin last week and i asked him to look out for some militaria, i expected some TR or DDR stuff but he came back with this. He found the medal in a secondhand/bric a brac shop, the shop owner said he had been asked to clear the apartment of an old lady who had recently died, apparently there was very little in the flat apart from a TV, radio, clothing and some personal papers plus the medal, i wonder if the old dear had a yank boyfriend all those years ago?...
Oh under the Berlin coat of arms on the front there is a tiny T j or To, maker mark?

    Nice one Gunny.

Maybe the designer of the medal instead of the manufacturer?
