These turned up a couple of days ago, one US army commendation medal, and a US air force conduct medal.

Anyone got any ideas on the dates/how old these may be?
Regards to all, Simon.
Both are current issue unless something happened that I hadn't heard about.
Army Commendation Medal authorized in 1945 for actions going back as far as Pearl Harbor in combat or non-combat.
Air Force Good Conduct created 1960 (when all the USAF medals were created) for three years good behavior, or one year in wartime.
Hope this helps.

PG, thanks for the help. Are they worth anything to anyone? I collect ammo and these turned up with some shell cases.
Regards, Simon.
Only worth money if included in a group with a named (or numbered) decoration, or some fantastic provenance.
Otherwise you can buy them mail order from any of a number os US companies (check the net....US medals).
I have a 1997 catalog in front of me. Both are listed at $8 US new, but made by US government contractor.
The Medal of Honor you cannot buy. Anything else is fair game.
Airforce good conduct medal is like girl scout not getting pregnant before age 12 medal.
Cheers Steve and Pat. Worthless Junk then.
Regards, Simon.
Simon,
One mans junk is another mans treasure so to speak. I would not call any award (medal) junk. These particular medals are current issue as previously stated however we still have troops in the field under fire and they would be awarded these exact medals, so in my opinion not junk but rather more common inexpensive awards.
Terry
Simon,
If you want, I will take them off your hands.
