    G'day Pryo,
    I'm not expert on these, but I have a couple of US medals in my junk pile. These to me are post war issue, the war time ones I have, have the pin assembly sewn on as well, but I stand to be corrected.
    Here's the a pic of the assembly from my WW2 PH

    Thank you René, thats the current problem. However it cant be to bad, as I have a few empty cases besides those.

    The medals first posted are likely from the 1990's.
    Rene is correct in that they should have a 'slot
    brooch' which is sewn onto the ribbons:
