The ribbon looks to be that of the Victory medal, although this medal was issued by all the allied countries in their various forms. The crown appears to be British, but a Queens Crown rather than a Kings, the top of the crown dips in. If it was period i would expect it to be a Kings Crown, George Vth. The next eligible time for a Queens Crown would be 1952 onwards. Its unlikely to be French as they cut the heads of their Royalty in 17 something and apart from a small blip have managed quite well without them.
