I did five years in the Army Cadets in the early 60's, only leaving to join the regulars at the age of 17 in 1969, and I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Cadet Forces medal!

It is an unusual medal and is issued to both British and NZ Cadet force Officers and adult volunteers.
12 years to get the medal followed by a bar every 6 years (6 years in the UK or 8 if in New Zealand)
