    Gentelmen (and ladies too),

I am trying to ID this holster. Looking for type of pistol, Age and maker. It is marked G.L. Co on the small brass button / MG embossed on the leather flap and has Sgt. W. Terry marked below the MG on the flap.

    Thanks

Looks like a pre ww1 holster for a 1911 to me.

Angle/shape of the flap suggests that its for a revolver rather than an auto/1911.

    At least to me.

I might of course be waaay of.

It's close to the 1911 type but the flap is different and there should be a large US where the MG is. I'm kinda stumped on this one

    Thanks

I repeat; most likely for a revolver.

Here is a private purchase revolver holster in a similar vein

Swivel holster for the 1917 revolver maybe.

Here are several. Top one looks similar.

If some were private purchase, there may well be variations amongst holsters

Verdict: M1917 revolver private purchase/commercial swivel holster.

    Scout,
I think you hit it on the mark. I have a 1917 and a 1901 Colt at home. I'll try them out tonight. I also think this this may have been a private purchase holster for a web belt since there is no US on the flap.

    Thanks
    Burt
