My "Mons" star with bar and 1914-15 medal.

Article about: Thought I would post a few medals from my collection. Of course they are not both to the same man (no one could be given both medals). The 1914 star with bar was issued to "29274 PNR:P.

Thorne 83, Thank you so much for all the information you got for me. I never even knew he served in the Boer war! It gives the item so much more depth when you know what the person was like and where he served. Thanks again!

Wow! It is not often that you are able to reunite medals. A lucky break I suppose. A good feeling I'm sure!
Yeah, it's very rare to do this. I've been collecting for 20 years & I'm lucky it's happened to me 4 times! The best one is this group to: -

    Name: Thomas Reginald Barrett
    Birth Place: Rangoon
    Residence: Instow, Devon
    Death Date: 24 Oct 1914
    Death Location: France & Flanders
    Enlistment Location: Exeter
    Rank: Private
    Regiment: Devonshire Regiment
    Battalion: 1st Battalion
    Number: 9573
Type of Casualty: Killed in action
Theatre of War: Western European Theatre

I bought the pair from a UK dealer in May 13 & the Star from U.S. eBay in July 13. Just need the plaque now!!

    Cheers,

    Richard.
