I read somewhere that after the Partition of India WWII medals named to Pakistani recipients weren't named, whereas those to Indians were, but can't remember where I read it.

That's my impression as well. I only have two WWII Indian Army groups, to the 5th Gurkha Rifles, and Probyn's Horse. All medals are named on both groups.
