The Norwegian Defense Medal 1940-1945 or "Deltagermedaljen" in Norwegian is a Norwegian medal awarded to military and civilian personnel who participated in the fight against Nazi-Germany during the Second World War.
It was established 19 September 1945, 33 cm wide and 33 cm tall and produced by the goldsmith firm "J.Tostrup" in Oslo.
Qualifications:
The be awarded the Norwegian defense medal, you must have met one of the following criteria:
Participated in the defense of Norway during the invasion in 1940 for at least 5 days
Served in the Norwegian Merchant fleet or Norwegian armed forces for 4 months or more(Awarded for less than 4 months if the unit one served in was moved to Norway during the liberation).
Participating in the Campaign in Finnmark(Winter 1944-1945) for 1 month or more.
Served in the Norwegian resistance moment for 4 months or more
The medal may also be awarded other allied personnel who took part in the liberation of Norway and served for 1 month or more
