Presidential Unit Citation with Oak Leaf

I really expected these to be expensive, but I guess there must have been a lot of these issued. I believe this is WW2 because of the pin and clasp back instead of the pronged pin version, but I'm not certain.

I have a few WW2 period US uniforms with Presidential Unit Citations on them and this one looks quite similar to those. The oak leaf cluster looks similar to one I have on a Bronze Star ribbon.

My opinion is that yours is a very nice period piece. For what it's worth.

Thanks for the feedback aurelius180. Looks like my oak leaf cluster is a lot like the one on your silver star ribbon, but not quite the same as the one on your PUC.

I'm by no means an expert and learning as I go but I do believe there were variations (as with much in this hobby

). The one PUC with oak leaf I have does have some theater made insignia and could lead to the difference.

This is the ribbon bar on the Ike with the PUC with oak leaf cluster which I believe is theater made along with the wings:

I didn't have good lighting as it was nighttime when this thread came up. Here are some better pictures of the PUC from my XIX Corps 2LT tunic. I believe this one compares favorably to yours (minus the oak leaf).
