    Default Purple Heart

    Hi Guys,

Just picked up this Purple Heart and wanted some one to take a look at it. I really don't know much about these. This one is numbered as you can see from the photo. I guess the biggest question for me is the box. Most of the period US badges Iv had were in a wood box. I'm not sure what this one is made of but its a lot heavier then others Iv had. Did they ever make these out of plastic? Is this a war time issued badge and box?

    Thanks for the help.

Looks like a very nice WWII set - I believe numbered medals
are early. You could reasearch the number and find out
    who it was awarded to.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

What you have here is a Rex Products numbered Purple Heart. They produced PH's from numbers 100,000 to 400,000 during the war. It may be hard to trace the medal to the recipient, but you do have an authentic WW2 era PH
