It looks like a type II slotted brooch.

Well according to the website its a Robbins company (manufacturer) Type II manufactured 1942-43 . Thanks again for that Phil and i suggest anyone who's even vaguely interested in the purple Heart check out this site, Its great its an honour to own one. Cheers Paul
