Default WW2 Bomber Command grouping + Log Book.

Hi all, I just thought I would show this great grouping(1939-45 Star/Air Crew Europe Star with Atlantic bar/British War Medal/Defence Medal and General Service Medal with Malaya Bar)and Log Book that I have just bought from Bob Simms site. From looking on the net I can see this group has come up for sale in the past and was originally mounted on a bar, but for some reason the medals are now loose?
I do not normally collect British Medals but this group really took my fancy as the chap concerned ( Flt Lt A.F.H. BARBER) flew in just about every type of bomber going as an air gunner/wireless operator throughout the whole war. Taking part in many bombing raids, he also had the experience of taking on ME109's on occasion with one possible downing. He also flew in convoy escort in the Mediterranean attacking a U-Boat! A really nice group with log book from a brave Airman, that will go proudly in my display cabinet. Leon.

Nice lot, with a great in depth history, the medals would look great mounted beside the log book. I don't understand why people split items from the same owner apart, it loses the history. I recently purchased an Air-Gunner tunic and cap the seller told me the history of the items in which i enquired how he had found out the history and he had bought them at auction and his log-book was also available but he had not purchased it, so i know there is a log-book out there, just a shame i will not be able to find out the full history.

    Cheers
    Harry

Thanks gents, Harry, you are spot on about breaking up groups, I am fortunate with these that I am getting the log book to go with the medals but I bet there would have been some great photographs to have gone with this service history, but alas, there are none. Maybe the family wanted to hold onto them, who knows, but a face to go with the history would have been the icing on the cake! Leon.

There must be a photo out there somewhere of him , may be worth looking at his Sqn and see if they have any photos or someone else in the Sqn who is still alive or their family has something

Sorry mate! I will let you have a free run at the next nice group I see and PM you about it if you like? Are you looking for anything in particular or just a nice Air Crew grouping? Leon.
